    Hi,

I planted spinach in pots about 5 weeks ago. They grew really well, they are outside under mesh, but they've started to go yellow. I can see new growth on them, am I doing something wrong???

It's the same with my peas. They've been out since May and been fine. The last couple of weeks they have turned yellow too. I've not changed my watering of them.

Is this normal? Can I do anything to stop this?

Potting compost will often have enough nutrients in the mixture for a few weeks growth so maybe the plants have used up what was available. Have you started to add any liquid feed to them when watering? I usually grow vegetables in the open soil so just a guess really. The pots for the spinach look particularly small to me for them to be able to develop strong enough roots to find sufficient nutrient for healthy leaf growth.

In my experience peas do pretty much die after they have produced a crop, you don't get many peas from each plant.
Don't think I have ever grown spinach but it looks like mostly old leaves dying off.
I agree the pots probably could be a bit bigger.

Your peas and spinach look better than mine, as usual my spinach is running to seed. My peas were only half the size compared to a normal year. The weather hasn't helped. I grow both these crops in succession so I have later sowings that are looking better.

You nip off the leaves of spinach to eat and encourage more growth, I would also give them a balanced feed.
