I haven't done anything in the garden for ages, except some watering and a little bit of weeding. I hope to catch up a bit soon there's so much to do, but it's raining now.

It's been raining on and off so I've started potting on the wallflowers done 17 of these.

I have not done much gardening at all over the last weeks, beyond maintenance, the weather is not very inspiring.
Everything is quite late, but for strawberries and cucumbers, so that is all we managed to pick, but the kid was happy.
Very disappointed with the beans, out of 10 plants, 5 have been destroyed by slugs and snails and the rest is not climbing. The melons suffered the same fate. I think I should have used nematodes but I did not expect the weather to be this wet.

However, squashes, tomatoes and tomatilloes have grown a lot and look healthy, fingers crossed.

Anyway, I fixed a bamboo arch, fertilized with molasses and planted out a few spare chilli and a tomato.

Just spent the past hour or so picking the early peas, which have all arrived together because of the spring weather, a whole battalion of snails and a lone slug where swarming over the vines. Got a carrier bag full of peas, some for colleagues at work rest for the freezer. Then pulled out canes gathered the pea plants, snails, slug and weeds and took the whole lot to the compost heap.

You have to do any gardening in the morning here so this morning I uprooted an Abutilon I have had for several years making it into a small tree and planted the new Dipladena/Mandevilla sanderi Rose Star in its place. Planted the Abutilon in a pot.

L-R Nepeta, Salvia, Mandevilla, Abutilon, Justicia adhatoda and Justicia carnea planted together ...

T'other Half kindly planted the new HibisQs "Nera" for me between two others ...

Just did some hand trimming along the edges of the lawn where new seed had sprouted. I believe the roots aren't well enough established to use a power trimmer.

I did go to the garden centre and bought 1 brick. I have an idea I might go forward with but since bricks only come in a few colours, I figured I'd better test just one to see if it looks okay before leaping in. If it isn't appealing, I have a new door stop. :)

Watered the hanging baskets and deadheaded the roses.

Deadheading and potted on a another batch of wallflowers , I have pulled up some of my 3 year old ones this year as they had become a tad woody. IMG_20210705_115109.jpg

Picked some more strawberries and blueberries.

Cut back some out of control greenery that was swamping some other plants and limiting sunlight to them.

Potted on some Fuchsia cuttings, really must stop taking cuttings as I haven't got the space for them . Still have cuttings I took last year from my parents garden ,haven't found them a home yet either.

                      ???? I have taken it easy !!
Potting on was done in the greenhouse where I have a stool to sit on . And the other 3 jobs weren't exactly strenuous.

I was doing the gardening for me as I absolutely hate to see dying and withering blooms, plus it promotes further blooms too.
Our brood wouldn't notice it our lawn had turned purple!!

Took out another section of fencing on the old rabbit run a couple of days ago and cut heads off several Docks ( to slow down spread of them ) and that is about all I've had time for. Raining at moment and likely be busy with resin stuff later.

We have a baby bunny coming to visit my buns every day. Extremely beautiful little bun :wub2: and spends most of the day next to the bun runs chilling out and eating.

Installed a wooden arch over the front side gate - using the timber I took from my allotment.

Got knobbled by a neighbour - so it took a good hour longer to install - but did catch up on all the local gossip :blue thumb:.
