I think it's due to lack of sunshine this year, previously mine have always been nice. My allotment neighbour says her raspberries are also bland and watery. She has also lost her early varieties due to mould.

    How is everyone else doing?

My strawberries are lovely, same as other years.

Interesting my strawberries have been good, but some not all of the raspberries have been "flat" in flavour.

No growing Raspberries at the moment, but my Strawberries performed well despite being runners only rooted earlier this year, although they finished fruiting a couple of days ago. No idea what variety as I was given them. Aready have more rooted runners from them than plants I started with.

Sods Law it's a bumper raspberry crop this year. I picked a bowlful and brought home for Mrs JWK to double check, she thought they tasted 'chemically'

I will pick my first Blackberries soon and hope they are good.

My raspberries taste bitter this year, and I have a bumper crop too.

Raspberries not ripe yet as they were only planted 4 months ago, but the strawberries have been nothing like the flavour they should be, if the varieties are correctly named. With this week's sunshine, though, and a thick mulch of straw, they're getting better :) It's the first year my thornless blackberry has produced any fruit worth having. It's appreciating the cooler temps and regular rain.

In previous years, in a drier part of the country, my raspberries and strawberries have been wonderful. This year they are much more insipid. I have supposedly got the same variety of strawberry (Marshmello) and the raspberries are some canes I brought with me, so maybe it is the wet weather. The fruit are also getting mouldy even on the plants with all the rain...

Left the bowl of raspberries in the cupboard and this morning it was teaming with ants. I noticed a few when I was picking. Might account for the chemical taste.

Mine raspberries taste wonderful, not like the frozen ones buy in the shop.

Yeah, I think the others are all getting a bit old and losing their taste buds.;)

You can hear them all saying.

"Nothings tastes like it did when I was a kid".

Mine have improved in flavour over this week of warm, very sunny weather.
