      Go to "all conversations"

Check the box by the one you want to delete.
a small window opens with the option to delete.

I have made an assumption that you are referring to a message that a few of us received the other night from a certain person who belongs under a bridge... on that basis, as I was in the conversation group, I was able to edit the message and it's contents are now merely a couple of full stops.

The only way that I know of that you can clear the red tag is to open the message, but if it is the message I am referring to, you are safe to do so as the message is essentially now blank.

That's the one . I don't engage in things like that - life's too short. Thanks for doing that FC - I'll open and delete it now.

No worries - I was only able to do that because I was in the conversation, so in the event that sort of thing occurs and one of the Admin team are not in the conversation, you would need to add us in to allow us to edit it - - sadly, that would mean you opening the message and then bringing us in, which is self-defeating really.

Thanks again for your patience with that individual the other night, very much appreciated.

But you can do the equivalent :blue thumb:
by doing the first bit (Go to "all conversations". Check the box by the one you want to delete.) and then click on 'Other action', then click on 'Leave conversation' and then in the black box that appears click on 'Ignore future messages' and then click 'Leave conversations'.

I'm arriving late to this party, but I have a lot of experience with administering XenForo discussion boards and wanted to explain a bit more. The directions above by @shiney is the only way to disengage from a conversation. It can be done from within the conversation, or from then conversation list.

Unlike other software, XenForo treats Conversations like private threads. As long as one of the participants (willing or otherwise) is still active in the conversation, it remains active in the XenForo database. As soon as the last participant leaves the Conversation, it becomes an orphan and is deleted from the database.
