Any ideas what variety of mushroom or toadstool this is? C6B03E32-5C40-4979-867B-060FE62745A2.jpeg 769914F4-D69B-4E28-87D1-9EF3A52D53E1.jpeg
It’s top is a little bigger than a tennis ball. It appeared in the grass under a huge Cedar Atlantica Glauca. I love mushrooms so hoping it might be edible? Also hoping like mad this is not a sign that my tree is in trouble as it is so lovely. The photo does not do it justice.

I have never seen any fungi appear under this tree before.

I wouldn't like to say it was edible.
But I'm pretty sure that type of mushroom is no threat to that really nice tree.
Must be great to have the space to grow one of those.

Personally I would have gone for C. Libani, but what ever, the true Cedars are all nice trees. :dbgrtmb:

Difficult to be sure what it is from the pics. It could be a field mushroom or a young horse mushroom. The main unpleasant one that looks kind of like that is the yellow stainer mushroom which is not the best to try to eat. I was in the woods walking the dog earlier and managed to find some chanterelle's - not many mind you. Its been a bit of a poor year so far for mushrooms so far but the Ceps must be making an appearance soon.
