They must have been listening! I checked for signs of roots only a couple of days ago, but when I went to chuck them out a few minutes ago (and get some fresh cuttings this week), I found 5 of them have rooted.

    That'll do me.

But 2 months to root seemed rather a long time.

They were indoors, but we don't turn our heating on.

I've just separated and potted up a second batch of cuttings, now have 13 in 70mm pots in my garden polytunnel.

Is it OK to leave them in there over winter and maybe for another year/until they're big enough to plant out? My intention is to grow them for fragrant cut stems to bring indoors in February. How long will I have to wait for flowers?

We leave out cuttings out but sheltered. Repot when the roots are showing out the bottom (quite often after their first year). Not sure about when they're suitable for cutting for vases as we have usually sold them by the end of the two years.

Mine have already got clusters of flower buds visible on the underside of the branches.
If you can't see any on yours then no flowers this year. Cuttings should flower sooner than plants from seed so maybe next winter.

As they're only about 100mm max high, and only just sending out sideshoots, I suspect it maight be longer than that. Will keep taking cuttings each year for backups so established plants can be given a severe haircut whilst flowering.

@Jenny namaste I would say Sarcococca confusa; this is what mine looks likes this year.
