Although I live in an old cottage, that is the first thing I got rid of when we made one humongous bathroom into two!

This article appears to be blaming BP for creating the crisis to change policy on using cheap imported labour, confirming my suspicions

How BP sparked a fuel crisis in drive to ease visa rules

I blame the EU as well, is it free movement or movement of cheap labour there main goal?

Poland has been so concerned about emigration of young skilled workers to Western Europe that new legislation on income tax reforms was passed in 2019. Polish nationals under the age of 26 would be exempt of income tax on 85,500 zlotys, which is roughly £16k, probably one of the best tax free allowance's in Europe. Their government has seen first hand how emigration can have a negative impact on a country. Funny how those I speak to regarding Brexit can't see how emigration can have a negative impact on a country and are only concerned about losing out on migrant workers, you could say, we are now, reaping what we sowed.

Poland to scrap income tax for young workers - Kafkadesk

If we think we have it bad with a shortage in HGV drivers, then what do the Polish think?

There's no panic buying in shops here yet but without deliveries, shelves are emptying fast in Tesco. Meat has almost gone and vegetables not far behind. Plenty of loo rolls still, is that a bonus? Petrol station queuing has begun but not too bad today.

        MOT Disaster
2020 the Gov gave a six month extension for MOT's until 19 OCT
Most people took advantage including me of a free six months
Now the hens have come home to roost
I need an MOT no chance every MOT station is booked out until mid November

The Road Haulage Association says the UK lacks 100,000 HGV drivers in total. What will happen in the likes of Poland if the UK makes up the shortfall from there?

We had a very similar one in our hotel in Rangoon but it didn't have an enema button. Is that why it also has a nozzle cleaning button? :roflol:

Well we have been doing this kind of thing for years regarding Doctors and medical staff, and if you are to believe the anti brexiters, we would only be taking back those who have left any way.

The point is that the EU doesn't appear have sufficient HGV drivers (and maybe cheap fruit pickers, food production workers, etc.) so where will they all come from, Turkey, Albania, Ukraine, Georgia, etc.? And after that?

Poland has an acute shortage of 140k HGV drivers, yet I am classed as selfish for voting to leave the EU which has resulted in the shortage of HGV drivers and other sectors in the UK.

The new EU mobility package has a lot to do with the shortfall in HGV drivers across the EU, nine countries have filed 15 cases against the EU.

Europe’s lorry driver crisis to deepen next year, warns haulage boss | Financial Times (ft.com)
