Basically the new rules were to create a more level playing field in wages and breaks across the EU, then there is a but.

Drivers will be eligible to receive the statutory minimum wage in every member state they drive in for most jobs between countries outside of their registered nation, in the past this was not the case. However the cabotage rule remains the same with foreign drivers only allowed to move 3 loads outside the operators registered country in a 7 day period, then a 4 day cooling off period is enforced. Why would a foreign haulage company move good across the EU if they have to pay their drivers the going rate but are only allowed to do 3 loads. If they are required to pay the going rate it's going to be difficult to do that if the truck has to be parked up for 4 days, its not making any money sitting idle.

Also, after every 4 weeks a driver who is doing international haulage must return to his country of residence or to the base of his operator for a 45 hour minimum break. Also every 8 weeks the truck must return to the operators country for a cooling off period.

HGV drivers are now not allowed to have their statuary break in a country they have been operating in. So if the UK was still in the EU and I was a HGV driver contracted to move goods across the EU and wanted to have my statuary break in that said country, I am not allowed. As long as I don't have my statuary 45hr break in the truck it should not matter where I spend my free time, but that's not the case anymore.

Even the environmentalist's opposed the new EU mobility package, they said it will result in more trucks running empty as they try to get their drivers and trucks back to base for the statuary breaks.

That would be an easily detectable breach of copyright, so screenshots might be better, but @CanadianLori let me know when you've read it and I'll delete them.

If I recall, it was mentioned as a potential problem on this ere forum.

MOT's are a thing of the past for me now - picking up my new car on Wednesday :hapydancsmil:- will be trading it in before it needs a mot - 3 years from new I think.

I booked my MOT in advance. There doesn't seem to be a problem round here but it's a bit of a distance for you to come :noidea:

I thought the MOT thing ran out last year some time, was it extended again?
I've carried on getting my MOT done in June each year and had no problems.
