I've never been a fan of quality street as it has mostly fruit flavoured centers and the price is ridiculous. I used to think it was expensive because of the tin but when I see decorative tins at the pound store I can't see the justification.

I've been up for hours and even though I've been thinking quite hard, I can't seem to remember where I left my motivation/get up and go! I think these back to back days of cloudy skies are draining me.
Aha, that's it, I must be solar powered :ideaIPB: :heehee:

I think they've even got rid of the tins Lori, I bought someone quite a large pack last year and it was just plastic. :dunno: Makes me wonder if that plastic's even recyclable...

So now even less justification for the price tag!

Unlike the old metal tins, those plastic tubs are no longer suitable for keeping your rat bait in, as they can gnaw through them, then carry the lot off to stash it somewhere (unsafe?) before they die.

We used to have a chocolate crumb factory in our town, it was built by Rowntree's in 1950, way before I was born. My mum's best friend used to work there, she often gave us some chocolate off bit's when I was a kid, it was a treat I looked forward to. I think when Nestle bought out Rowntree, it was the largest foreign buyout for a British company.

Egremont bypass was completed in the early 1990's which took the route of the old railway line, the chocolate factory was demolished in the 1990's and is now a compact housing estate. This image would of been in the mid to late 1950's,

The image below was probably late 1980's construction of the bypass of Egremont, with the Rowntree's chocolate factory still standing to the right.

That's reminded me of a relative (so long ago can't remember them, might have been a great aunt), who worked in a biscuit factory and got big bags of broken biscuits, all sorts [1] mixed up together.

[1] Come to think of it, might have been a company who were bought out by Bassets.

I remember we used to buy those from Woolworth's in Luton in the late 50s early 60s.

I reckon we should start the rumour that quinoa, avocado and tofu are suffering a shortage - that will see all the daft twits waste their money on those and leave the bacon, sausages and eggs for the rest of us.

There is to be fair - we are about 15% short at the moment, but the reasons are really quite simple. 8hrs to 10hrs driving in a shift with a 40-50 minute break shoehorned in somewhere, being abused, threatened and so on, dealing with city traffic day in and day out, up and down the same old roads day in and day out... few places to go for a pee because they are all shut... and all for not an awful lot more than minimum wage in a lot of cases.

Don't get me wrong, if you've been in the job years then the pay rates are better and you are used to handling the stuff that comes your way, so it is water off a ducks back - - but to get new folks in? Not easy.
