Winterising strawberry plants in pots

I have crowned my dozen or so strawberry plants which are in pots currently in the greenhouse. I intend to put these in my unheated garage over winter to prevent frost, there is only a small amount of light in there most of the time, providing I keep them moist will they be ok, when would be the best time to put them away & when to bring them out again in the spring. Thanks in advance

 

I'd put them outside, frost won't hurt them but a dark garage will.
Ideally a cold frame would be good, but the greenhouse would be ok also if you have room.
They don't need cosseting just some shelter from the worst of the weather if it gets really bad.

If you keep some or all of them in the greenhouse you will have an early crop next year, though you may have to hand pollinate them.

 

Thanks for the reply, I did wonder about the garage, I only have one back door window which isn`t great, I dont have cold frames at present as I only started growing last year, something to think about. Think I will leave them in the greenhouse as I dont do much in there over the winter

 

Think the greenhouse will be the best bet judging by replies on here, they were all new plants this year, although the harvest weren`t exceptional, I`m hoping they will do better next year now they are established. I may drape some bubble wrap over them for good measure.
