I don't have anyone following me on Facebook, not even my friends follow me. I have set my account to, friends, so anything I post or images I share, then only my friends can see what I post, they can follow me if they wish. If you have your FB settings on, public, then literally anyone can follow you.

What you need to do is, click settings, then click, public post, it will then come up with, Who can follow me, click friends. If you click friends, then only your friends should be able to follow you.

 

Maybe its something in your settings, a box that needs checking or unchecking.

 

It's nothing to do with people who follow you. I also have my account set so that only friends can see what I post.
But these people watch you and if it is anything they don't agree with like something political they can ban you or delete your account.

I had 34 of them even though my account is set to friends only.

Try what I did ...

Go to settings
Go to Blocking
Type 'fact checker' into the Block users bar
See what comes up

I have messages from many friends on it

I dont worry too much about it, Facebook that is, there is probably loads of stuff out there floating about on all of us.
I think its just luck of the draw if you get problems.

Obviously certain precautions need to be taken, but cant see the point in going OTT about it.

I have a similar attitude to covid so nothing new.

 

I agree with that ... I was only saying because I didn't know about it before and thought it was a bit like 'big brother is watching you' . I think we have to be careful what we post, that's all.

I agree there too.
And I don't believe anything the government tells us about it.

I've been commenting on the thread on here about watches.

Suddenly I'm getting ads for watches on facebook, cant remember getting any before.

Coincidence or is the browser doing it.

The person who told me about the fact checkers also said he has something called Alexa (?) that can talk to you and it is recording everything you say. He was talking about dehumidifiers the other day and now gets ads for them.

I've got an adblocker so I don't see any ads I got fed up with ads for funerals so I blocked them. It's their own fault.

 

That makes sense. And double posted my post about double posting!

That's good @Victoria, there were 34 watching me, and it isn't as if I put anything political or dangerous, I just show a few photos of my plants and some views occasionally.
I checked again this morning and there are no more there.

 

Safest way is to come off facebook. (Speaking as someone with no friends)

 

And don't have Alexa because that listens in as well.

I only joined facebook because someone told me I'd find a local odd job man on it.
I didn't find one, but I did find some people who I'd lost touch with over the years and now we communicate via facebook, so I'm staying on it for that reason alone. I don't want to lose touch with them again. I don't use it for anything else.
