Plug main one into same socket as router and connect ether cable to it.
Plug 2nd device next to TV, and ethernet cable from device to TV. It should work. If not long press WPS button on both and try again

According to the TP website you only need to pair them to set up a secure network.

Strange not having instructions in them. Loofahs link above should have a link to the manual for your model. You can't just plug them in, they do need to be paired. The process steps are not complicated but do need to be followed.

    Hi,

You do need to tell us exactly with brand and model powerlines you have, and which instructions you are following as you say nothing came with them, which is not normal for a typical branded product ?

You need to prove they work by moving the TV into the same room as the router and using a power point in the same or adjacent room, with them being so close together they should work.

The problem appears to be that our ultra modern fuse box is power surge protected and from what I read, that stops the adapters from working.

It may be worth contacting TP-Link customer service, outlining your problem. Maybe there is a work around for your type of consumer unit. If not you can get your money back.

      Have sent the units back.
Just tried a Fire tablet in the corner next to the TV and got a connection, but very slow. Very odd. In here we g3t 4 bars, but in the TV corner only 1. So wondering if a signal booster is the way to go?

Download this free app for android or equiv for Apple. It measures the exact WiFi speed in different areas.

You should be looking at 5 mb/s for Netflix BBCi etc. If it is low strength looks like you need a signal booster. Presume it will be a pain to run an ethernet cable from the router to the TV?

Cable would be very difficult as it would have to cross two sections of a solid floor.
Apps are of little use when we do not have a Smart phone.

After some faffing about I have managed to connect the TV to the Internet with the Extender. Hurrah for me.
Now I need to find out how to actually use the Internet on the TV. Like, how do I get BBC Iplayer on it? (Sony Bravia TV) The set does have an Internet Browser on it.
Also do I turn the gadget off at night as I do with all other electrical devices apart from the night light in the Hall.
