I hope you both are not feeling too poorly.

Boffins keep on saying that everyone will at some point come into contact with Omicron.

Mark Drakeford is finally saying that Omicron is not as bad as he thought it would be and is looking at reducing our alert level to zero.

Good to see that the economy (GDP) is back to pre-covid levels. I reckon we are now in the endemic stage.

Kind of rubbing it in again as regards the general public.
Lots of people had to do that, why does she get a special apology.

It just reinforces the "them and us" that exists and always has.
Personally I'm not surprised what was going on at no10 and probably in lots of over government buildings.
It all started to trickle out in the Barnard Castle outing which kind of showed the rules didn't apply to them, and I wouldn't be surprised if its not that short sighted individual who is slowly leaking all of this.

A couple of issues with that - firstly, Boris was at Chequers recovering after coming out of hospital when those parties took place, so he was not involved. Secondly, it was civil servants who were the ones partying and breaking the rules - civil servants that Boris could not sack even if he wanted to because he has no control over them. The civil service answers to the civil service and therein lies much of the problems with this country.

We're just getting over a bad bout of flu - all three of us had it and all in it has lasted around three weeks.

Well he does admit spending 25minutes at one of the many parties that seem to have gone on.
Its the one where he didn't realise it was a party.

This is just normal and one reason I never took the rules to the letter myself.
I realise in some situations you didn't actually have a choice, but it was happening around here on a smaller scale, lots of people coming and going during the lockdown.

He does and much as I am no fan of the man, that is hardly a reason for him to resign. What it does show, and moreover the actions of many others close to the government, is that they knew all of these rules were utter tripe from the start.

All along the rules were there to slow the infection rate, not to stop it, and I believe lots of what we were told was a reaction to what happened in Italy when it first broke out in Europe.
It was panic, in all countries really.

Also I think there was so many people who actually wanted rules and seemed unable to make their own decisions.

No, the rules were there simply to allow those passing them to be able to say "we've done something" and that is being kind. As with everything nowadays, it was rapidly turned into a political point scoring session, nothing more.

I'm no scientist - but this strategy does smack of being risky - at some point in the future Omicron is going to visit Tonga - the people there need to be ready to fight it off.

"We don't want to bring in another wave - a tsunami of Covid-19," a Tonga official tells the Reuters news agency.

Aid sent to Tonga will need to be quarantined, and foreign personnel will likely not be allowed to leave aircraft, he says.
