This tower pc (Aesus) is on its last legs. Need a new one. Anyone any recommendations?
We don't do gaming or watch stuff. Mostly Internet, photos and writing my stories.

Would you want a new tower or a laptop? Laptop might be good if you like to write in different locations

Either way most stuff sold at Curry's will do the jobs you want so it will be a case of build quality and sticking to popular names brands

I Have bought two tower desktops in the last couple of years and both have been excellent. They are Dell Inspiron. We only use them for normal computer work the same as you do.

We bought them directly from Dell and had no bother at all. We ordered them both with 27" screens as we like not to have to strain our eyes. :old:

I have bought Dell in the past and always found them to be good value and reliable. Currently I have an HP PC Tower it's also been pretty good. I'd go with a known brand although nearly all are made in China these days.

I thought they were all pretty much the same components brought together by different companies, but even then, some of those companies are connected.

I'd just buy one that does what I want it to, I think my laptop at the moment is a bit OTT for what I use it for, I'm telling myself when it goes up the creek I'll just get something basic for internet browsing and e mails and transactions online.

Having said that I do like to have a slot for SD memory card, and a DVD drive.

I have a hp Pavilion laptop with a BenQ 27" monitor attached. I also have a mouse and a second hard drive permanently connected. I bought it in PC World 8 years ago and it has performed great. I run it permanently connected to the mains. It goes on first thing in the morning and off the last thing at night. I run Windows 10 as it is not up to running Windows 11. I would replace it with a new hp Pavilion should it fail. This one runs Windows 11 and costs £399.

Should have mentioned, I run two screens at once. Brilliant for Photoshop as I have the image on the 27" screen and the tools on the laptop screen.

There are several well known companies who will supply ready made or custom built PCs such a CCL, Pallicomp, Chillblast , PCSpecialist etc etc as well as the afore-mentioned big names.

Two things we would suggest you consider, first that the PC comes with or is guaranteed to be able to run Windows 11 otherwise its already obselete !

The other is to have your Boot Drive C as a SSD( solid state drive) as that increases the speed of the computer dramatically over a standard HDD.

However be aware that whereas HDD ( hard disc drives) tend to last many years, the SSD can be more short lived so specify one that has a 5 year warranty and use an external usb drive to backup your SSD., which is good practice using any computer.

            Good make with 5 year warranty - Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD | CT500MX500SSD1 | Crucial UK

That Dell looks very similar to the one I bought last year. It came with wired keyboard and mouse and two separate speakers. I have a separate hard drive backup.

As you have seen with that Ebuyer one, many ready built pc cases do not have Dvd bays or SD card slots.
There are still a few cases around with bays for a dvd drive and sd cards, but that would need a custom build or swapping cases yourself.
The other way around that is to use External USB DVD drives and SD card Readers, both quite cheap , even Argos stock them, though not as compact.

That Dell pc on the Amazon link does have a lot of poor 1 star reviews ?

This supplier seems to have cases more to your needs and allows you to customise the build
