Whitbread announced in January 2021 they planned to install EV charging points at 300 Premier Inn locations. Engie secured the contract to provide 600 EV charging points over 3 years, so two charging points at 300 locations.

According to the website "Lovemoney" there is only seven Premier Inn locations that currently have EV charging points as of March 2022, Northampton West, Stafford North, Burton on Trent, London Enfield, Uttoxeter, Bristol Cribbs Causeway and Rugeley. At this rate, Engie will be lucky to have 30 Premier Inn locations equipped with EV chargers within 3 years let alone 300 locations.

Lets face it, if you were going to put charging points at any location it would be the motorway service areas and the overnight stops first.
Even Inns and hotels not on motorway routes.

Most people using a supermarket is not really going to actually "need" a charge.

That's a large population that needs to be supplied @shiney. The population of Inverness is 47,000 and we have three Tesco here as well as other supermarkets including Asda and Morrisons. I don't know what the catchment population is but it's widespread, being mostly rural.

@Sheal That town only has that one Tesco and a Sainsbury's but they are very large. There are a lot of small local supermarkets.

Well it seems like I am going to stick with my noxious gas guzzler. I'll just sit out the electric revolution and wait for the Hydrogen powered cars at the end of the decade. John O groats to lands end on a bucket of water, sounds good. :heehee:

What goes around comes around. I've been saying for years we'll be going back to horses and carts. Not easy to park at Tesco though.

Will be tricky charging electric cars when the rolling power cuts are brought in when the grid starts to fail as has been forewarned many years ago.

Or filling up with fuel when petrol stations have their power cut in the same way.
