Bad Grass ? Weed ?

Hi everyone,
Recently I realized that there are two types of glass on my lawn, the thinker one grows more and more but I am just thinking is it weed?

I think it's impossible for me to remove it by hand because almost 50% of green is from this.....Sorry again for my poor English and gardening knowledge, thanks.

 

If 50% of your lawn is based on that there are two options:

1. Dig up everything and sow yourself a new lawn
2. Keep it short, so it won't be as obvious and lern to live with it

I myself have at least 4 types of grass and at least one type of moss

 

If you mow regularly ( at least once a week) on a lower height setting most of that thicker grass will reduce considerably.

In the meantime where you have large clumps of that thicker grass, get a very sharp blade, like those retractable hobby knives, and slash the clump in several directions, most of it will come away, allowing the thinner grasses space to come back in.

 

Keeping weed grasses out of your lawn is an almost impossible task. The best you can do is learn how to minimise them by having a lawn care strategy but you have to keep on top of it. There really is no quick fix.

 

I get the same in mine lawn now and again a old trick is to get a sharp knife and slice into them to weaken them give the other grass you want a chance to grow better and fill thespace

but do I need to pull it out after the cut? or just try to cut its root?

 

Really ? It will disappear or I just can't see it because it's short?

 

just slice it and leave if you take out you will have a bear patch that will will need to fill the hole in and re plant fresh seed ,,, then the seed may look odd when it grows as its note the same as the rest of the lawn

 

it will minimise the looks but it will not eradicate it. You will notice if you feed the lawn, more so with iron that it will be a different shade.
Slice it will help but a good scarification in the autumn and spring would also be beneficial against such grass types.
