Solved Can anyone ID this vine?

    Hmmmm this might be an easy one...or is it? :biggrin: I feel fairly confident that a poster will be able to tell me its name. It's a vine that grows upwards and has a tendency to wrap tightly around any plant next to it. In the autumn it produces fluffy swirls/balls (see the last picture). Many thanks in advance for your help :)

    its a variety of wild clematis Vitalba , around here they call it (old mans beard)

      It smothers the hedge rows around here in certain places.
      It also has a liking for telegraph poles.

      Infests the scrub behind my garden and I pull up a lot of seedlngs every year and have to reqularly beat it with a sharp implement to stop it climbing over the fence.
