does any one know what this plant called just by the description a freind asked me she hasnt got a photo unfortunately still I thought it could be related to the Jasmine family any other ideas ? she said it Climbs and twines around plants like bindweed, (bellbine with the white trumpet shape flowers) looks like bellbind, with shiny heart shaped leaves but as, a stronger stem than bellbind, and it has tiny yellow flowers, the yellow flowers are small, lots of tiny yellow flowers on a stem.
Yes sounds like Black Bryony the very devil to get rid of, it develops a massive tuberous root and in my beech hedge cannot be dug out.
Black Bryony is a member of the Yam family, not edible though. I came across it when clearing out an old fence prior to putting in new posts. Dug into a large tuber that I didn't recognise. Spent half an hour or so going through Colins Pocket Guide to Wildflowers of Britain and Northern Europe to identify the "thing" I'd found. Also known as Dioscorea communis.
