Mine would have had your leg off and grilling on the BBQ! :roflol: It's going to be a tricky few hours here as (shock, horror) we've run out of Felix sachets. The poor deprived moggies are reduced to biscuits or on-the-hoof game, until lunchtime tomorrow. Watch this space for headlines in the French press along the lines of: 'Two bodies found half-eaten by starving cats'

As was predicted some time ago - on this 'ere forum. Smart meters are there to control when people use energy - not to cut bills. You watch - the off peak rates will be no better than the rates we have now.

Why did they not just come out and say this straight away?

Households with smart meters could get discounts on electricity bills if they use less energy at peak times.

National Grid hopes to roll out a scheme where people can save cash if they avoid high-power activities, such as cooking or charging electric cars, when demand is high.

Well, Found out that we tried to fly our veterans flag and to be told to take it down as it made a noise:scratch:.
How do flags fly without wind? Seems a local council officer from Environmental dept. has decreed that I cannot fly a flag if it makes a noise:dunno:. So when I put it to them that they are denying me the right to fly a flag, they stated that they are not opposed to it flying just the noise it makes.:yikes:
Can someone give me a better perspective on this or is it just me?
Very confused and dumb struck by politics of the local variety not national. :gaah:

Just how big is this flag @landimad ? I always have at least one 27" x 54" flag flying and they do once in awhile make a flapping noise but not anything of high decibels!

There's no way a flag could make enough noise to be considered noise pollution

There are two simple ways to deal with it.

The old fashioned way is to talk to the local newspapers/media and make fun of the Council.

The modern way is to do the same but with using local social media.

You can try it with something like this:-

"Getting in a flap! Council bans flying the flag because it is too noisy!"

Have a look to see if the council is flying a flag and if they are complain that it's too noisey, did some one complain about the nosie of your flag

T'other Half went to the DIY this morning and bought an a/c converter unit for The Baffa/Garden Room. It was on sale (last day today) from 529 to 439 Euros. He got one (well, paid for one) but with a little hassle. Apparently now you cannot buy such unless you are licensed to install them. So he called Jason who has installed others for us and he did not want to give his number to Leroy Merlin as he had an issue with them. So now T'other Half has to find someone else before he can collect the unit. As Jason was on a job at the time, he has now e-mailed him to see if it can be sorted.

So what's that all about? It was not required before.
