A walk around Badbury Rings, Iron Age Hill Fort site near Wimborne.
Pyramidal Orchid.


Chalk Fragrant Orchid.


Common Spotted Orchid, most are going over.


Bee Orchid, also almost finished.

See this in the woods where i walk the boys,it looks like a wild astilbe

 

It's Meadowsweet, Filipendula, belongs to the rose family.
Astilbe belongs to the Saxifrage family I think ...

@Logan We made wine from it once, it had a lovely smell when it was fermenting

I've never ever seen a wild Orchid in the UK! You must be very fortunate to have so many where you live @strongylodon ! The only time I've ever seen a wild Orchid was when I used to live in Spain & it was growing in the most desert-like conditions! It was in a little used gravel over very compacted dry dirt (can't call it soil!) I can still visualise it in my mind even though at least 40 years have passed since I saw it! It had black flowers which looked for all the world like black bees! I wish I'd had a mobile phone like we have nowadays with their great cameras so that I could have taken a photo! I had no camera with me the day I saw it - except the one in my head!

 

There is a very pretty Bindweed growing in the grass in front of our balcony. When I brought my granddaughter back from school the other day I stopped to take couple of pictures of them.

At the same time I took a couple of photos of this yellow wildflower growing in the grass as well but I don't know what it is called, anyone able to make an ID?

It looks something like Cat's Ear @Balc

There are several species of wild orchids growing around here @Balc, on roadsides, on dunes, in marshy ground. They are quite common.
On one industrial estate near-by they grow in profusion on the grass verges and get mowed down every year.

I'll have to take some wild flower photos this summer, although spring is actually the best time for them ... there seem to be more species flowering in the springtime.
