Definitely likes good drainage as the only other plants that it has grown with are Cymbidiums.
In fact that's where I first saw it, a mate gave me two plants about 30 yrs ago and this kept appearing in one of the pots.
Spores must have spread to the cacti.

This is a fern Jiffy so no flowers, but thanks for the info.

I've seen those Cornish walls, look like hedges until you drive into them.
All manner of stuff surviving on a pile of stones.

This afternoon I found some growing on an old wall down my garden. It is rooted between the stones and bricks where there is hardly any soil ...

It's a nice fern for dry places but I wonder if it has ever been seen growing on the ground.

I've never seen it growing in the ground @pete, just at ground level of the wall, but never in the open ground (or in pots actually)

I have that labelled as Asplenium trichomanes... common name maidenhair spleenwort.
Only ever seen it in dry walls.
pics show the spores on the back.

Thanks I'll be looking out for some spores on the plant I have although not sure what to sow them on.
I did once see Begonia rex being grown on a house brick.
The idea is you use a soft type of brick and stand the brick in water, the plant then just uses the moisture the brick draws up.
