Lawns shouldn't need mowing in this weather but I admit I did run my mower last night to hoover up all the dead leaves from the trees. There's too much for me to rake and I filled six large barrows. It only took 15 minutes whereas it would probably take three times that - if I was physically able to rake that amount.

The weeds are growing and flowering in my lawn even though the grass looks dead. Not worth getting the mower out though.

Some people might be watering their lawns?

I know pretty much everyone knows this but there might be a few people lurking that don't.

If your mower has adjustable cutting height, you can set it just above the length of the grass then it will serve as a lawn hoover to pick up any loose bits, while also topping any taller weeds that are coming through, while not actually cutting the grass.

Only weed flowers and some grass seed heads poking up on my grass.
The grass is now dormant and brown, it can stay that way as far as I'm concerned.

But it's surprising how just running the mower over it makes it look tidier.

That's exactly what I did. My mower has seven height settings that are easily adjusted by a pull on a lever. :blue thumb:

My grass is thick and green and sadly in need of a cut but I am too stressed to cut it.

Mine is easily adjusted by crawling around on your hands and knees trying to get each wheel to lock in the correct position.
But yes,it's similar, it involves a lever, all four of them.

I had a flymo years ago that involved a spanner and packing pieces to adjust the blade height, don't think I ever did.

You can see who the Rolls Royce owners are when it gets down to mowers.

Simple lever on left hand side which can be adjusted whilst in motion. With a lot of lawn I need a big one :roflol:

Years ago I accidently dropped the height on tne mower on one side only. Didn't notice it until most of thr way done and saw the lawn had a distinct shingled look!

Yes, my neighbour mowed his lawn last night and he doesn't water  He is a first time home owner so that explains somewhat and I am careful to only offer advice occasionally and when sought. I figure nobody wants an "interfering" neighbour.
