Just got back home from a couple of days unwinding in the countryside to find that the disgusting people working on a building conversion next door have filled out blue recycling bin with construction waste.

Believe me I was very tempted and considered that.

Then the quiet little voice of logic kicked in. Technically if I did that I'd be fly tipping. That comes with a fine of about a grand if caught. So I've messaged the council and will see what they advise. If I had evidence it was them, I could probably get them done, as there are laws governing commercial waste, but sadly, even though it couldn't be any more obvious who it was, 'obvious' doesn't count as proof.

They said that 75% of people with mortgages are on fixed rates.
It will go up eventually though.

Unlike my savings that have been on a fixed rate for the last 20 years.
Will that go up eventually, I doubt it.

There needs to be much more regulation on pricing and fair deals on interest rates, things go up in price far faster than they come down and like wise the interest rate go up faster for borrowers than investors.

Btw, Putin was listening to the BoE bloke at lunchtime because I'm sure I could hear hysterical laughter in the background. ;)

Anyone that was astute enough to borrow within their means will be alright. It's those that borrowed right at their upper limit that are going to have a hard time.

My mortgage is fixed at 1.74% until the back end of 2024. I used an online calculator to look at different scenarios when my fixed term deal ends. Even if the rate went to a 1980s style 15% I'd still be alright at a squeeze as long as my career doesn't take a dive.

In terms of investment, I pay a fixed amount monthly into a stocks and shares ISA. If you can manage without that cash for a few years, now is a perfect time to invest, as the share prices are down at the moment, but will almost certainly come back up, as long as Putin's war doesn't escalate too much. (That's not financial advice by the way, I could be very wrong on that point so please nobody copy me without doing your own due diligence:) )

Is your old phone connected to a BT line.
If so it should still work and power cuts shouldn't affect it.

I thought 2g and 3 g was pretty much obsolete now.

I have the same problem with my BT phone. The phone connects to the router which is connected to the BT line but the router needs an electrical supply to work so no lecky - no phone.

I, like many others, have followed the Archie Battersbee saga on the news.
What I would like answered is if the intention is to switch off his life support and effectively kill him why can they not allow his family to move him to a hospice? They say it will "hasten premature deterioration". The same doctors wanted to switch off his life support weeks ago. And if he does pass away in the ambulance on the way to the hospice it is not as if he is going to suffer. They have already said he is brain dead.
I think the NHS Trust are trying to cover their ar$e at the expense of his family.

All I will say is they should have let go of him a while back, all this court action will not bring back a dead brain. He's gone and it's just a machine keeping the body alive, which to me is pretty terrible.

Yes it is, it's only the phone that not working so we have order a new phone which don't need elecy just for times we have power cuts, my old moblie is cheap to run but it now finds it hard to get a signal, i think they want me to upgarde it but it only cost's less than £5 a year to run, 25p per minute but i've only been using it to ring 101 which is 15p per call and if i haven't used the moblie for a longer time i ring 101 for a minute then hang up, cheap way to keep it active ;);)
