So what you are really saying is all those businesses that built up, out of selling lunch to office workers were really unviable business and deserve to get shut down.

And all the office workers who are now working from home are going out into their villages and supporting the local economy every lunch time.

Or maybe they shouldn't go out at all and just stay hunched over their computer.

I'm not sure how the government told us where to spend our money, I spend mine where I want to regardless of the government, apart from taxes of course.

Maybe the airlines did deserve a bit of a hit but they will come back I'm sure, you are not going to get people to lower their standard of living, without a recession, which causes hardship on those with less money.

We both know I never said or implied that they DESERVE to get shut down.

But yes, any business that places all its eggs in one basket and has no buffer or plan B for any kind of economic turbulence is not viable.

Changing trends like no customers, these are mostly small companies often one man businesses.
    How do they adapt?

Yet, in 2021, Sunak cut APD on UK domestic flights by 50% with the duty on flights up to 2000 miles remaining the same. He did increase the APD on longer haul flights by £3 and £7, as pointed out by friends of the earth and other green groups, this was a step backwards not forwards in tackling climate change.

So, Newcastle is the nearest Airport to me, the APD to fly to Bangkok is now £91, now when you compare that to a flight to Alicante the APD is £13. So seven flights would cost the same APD, yet as the crow fly's, those 7 flights to Alicante is nearly double the air mileage. Targeting frequent fliers or a tax per 100 Air miles should of been the way forward.

I said sometime ago that the French tourism board said that of all the tourists visiting France, only 2% were Chinese. The French tourism industry was quoted as saying this was totally unacceptable and wanted to woo 5 million Chinese tourists annually by 2020.

A few weeks ago, Leeds Utd, Man Utd, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace flew squads to Australia, each team played 2 or 3 friendlies. The co2 footprint for each clubs trip down under would take the average person 17 years to produce the same co2 footprint, the average person is not the problem.

But the average person is the easiest target.

So where is the shortage, they must have lots of the stuff to sell otherwise the price would be up and the profits down.

Instead the price is up and so are the profits .

Germany I think. That land we all revere for their forward thinking and innovation. The land that has spent the last few years shutting down its nuclear reactors and restarting it's coal and gas fired power stations, and placed all its eggs in one basket for its supply.

                          And relying on Russian gas.
But this is world wide, I hardly think one country needing more gas from different sources would cause all this.
There has to be some form of price fixing going on amongst energy companies as a whole.
