As we have ten people visiting our garden tomorrow (I don't know any of them :noidea:) I have just hoovered up a wheelie bin full of willow leaves. The bin men are supposed to collect tomorrow but I wouldn't hold my breathe!

This what I didn't do in the garden yesterday. After a cooler, damper day, I didn't water anything.

Mrs Shiney has been doing the cutting back of lots of plants, particularly Phlomis russeliana and Veronicastrum. She does the cutting back and I do the technical job of stuffing it all in the bins. We have filled up our three green waste wheelie bins and the bins of three of our neighbours. Bin collection is today :fingers crossed: - if they turn up!

@Upsydaisy They collect our green waste bins every week but if they miss a collection I now put in a formal complaint as logging it on the council waste dept. website doesn't get any reaction. They missed our recycling pick up (every fortnight) last time and I got a reaction from the complaint and they picked up six days later.

I now have an email link to one of the complaint dept so I can get through quicker :heehee:. He actually said that I am always extremely polite when logging a complaint whereas most people aren't.

I spent weeks complaining back in spring ,I was given a complaints number, kept loggjng on to track how things were progressing only to keep finding it had be signed off as having been dealt with and collections had been carried out....they never had!! So I continued logging my complaints they eventually came twice, this was at the start of June....but since then it's back to crossing our fingers and...well....pot luck!!:dunno:

Fortunately we don't produce much waste so we never reach the ' overflowing ' stage...well so far.:fingers crossed:

By the way, I'm always polite too.....hard as it might be! Rudeness never gets you what you want any quicker.

I'm sorry to hear you're having such trouble with bin collections @shiney and @Upsydaisy Our council, Carmarthenshire, is not very polite, although they want you to be polite to them, and I've always thought they're hopeless but they have only ever missed my garden bin once and when I informed them (it was a Friday) they came to collect it on the Monday.

Our council were always excellent with our collections but recently they have been saying that their contractors are having problems getting drivers. We don't find out whether the council have a penalty clause with the contractors for non delivery of service.

My garden bin collections are on every other Friday.
Got a message last Friday saying, bin collection suspended due to labour shortage.
Might be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5, but one of the hottest days of the year, Friday, kind of adds up to a let's skive off work, day to me.

They are usually pretty good and only normally suspended it for snow.
