    I thought of Mare’s tail too. In the coal mines of the midlands, the miners used to say, they pulled it down by the roots !!!

    Interesting.
    Very odd...IF it is Equisetum /mares tail...or other invasive plant then I would expect it to be seen all over the border with the Acer and conifer.

    More pics needed later when something else appears...shoots/leaves/stems.

      There has to be surface growth of this plant somewhere.

        Well, seen how deep Equisetum roots allegedly go, I'm sure that somewhere in Australia a farmer is just now battling with the green growth, swearing to dig into "as deep as it takes to get all of the roots out". ;)

          Its said to concentrate gold particles. That was used as an incentive to get all the roots dug out.
          It really should be revered as a surviving remnant of vegetation from the Carboniferous period, forming much of the coal measures. One day we will appreciate it.

                Could use it for scouring pans as equisetum have silica particles in them.
