          Yes, they can be pretty dangerous if spooked. Those look jolly cuddly ... except for their horns, of course. ;)

            Lovely pix @wiseowl. We have lots of them [for obvious reasons!] and I always enjoy meeting them on walks. There's a remote Munro in Glen Fyne [Beinn Bhuide] which is accessed by a fairly long road/track in, past the farm and brewery there. The Heilan' coos are everywhere, and I have some nice pix from the last time I was there. I laughed once when I read someone's walk report about their very short attempt at the hill, because the guy's wife refused to go past them. They were only about twenty minutes into the walk!
            Like any animal, they're very protective of their young, so you do have to be careful, and dogs should never be off a lead. That goes for any livestock in the area though.

            I live round the corner from a small NT garden. The highland cattle from a park on the outskirts of Glasgow used to spend the winter in a small field there, but they haven't been present for many years. Not sure why.
