Hi please help me id this tree which is in Baden Baden, Germany. Sorry about the poor quality cameraphone image but you can see the clumps of hanging seed pods about 10" long each of which contain about 80 of the long flat seeds shown in the second picture attached. I would have thought such a distinctive tree would be easy to id but I can't seem to do so after an hour on Google. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your suggestions - yes I kept getting to Robinia Pseudoacacia, The False Acacia and also Locust trees in my searches but the seeds don't seem right for it to either of those.

I think its Catalpa, (indian bean). Looking at the seed, I presume they are in a long pod.

Just one thing herbalis, could you please resize your second picture, its a bit too large.:)

Catalpa looks about right. Any chance of a close up picture of the leaf?

Thanks people I think we have a match with Catalpa :-)

    Sorry treesurfer78 I stupidly didn't get a leaf shot.

Thanks all, and apologies for overlarge seed picture: will deal with that now.
