Brimstone and orange tips around the garden.
Then while we were working near the tree peony a bee (sorry didn't see what it was) buzzed by us and then went into one of the open flowers. Then we heard not a buzz but more of a shrill for a few seconds. We then remembered reading/seeing something about some bees do this so that they create a certain frequency inside the flower that makes the pollen move more readily. Fascinating and glad that the bee was pollinating our peony as we have over the years potted up seedlings and given them to family and friends for their gardens.

An American Robin nesting in my son's American garden. He didn't know it was there until he went to get the pallet to break it up. A job that's now delayed. :)

Sitting quietly reading my book indoors and a very loud buzzing near my ear. Turned round and a hornet alighted on one of the window panes. We caught it and put it back outside and hopefully that is where it will stay.

I was speaking to my neighbour recently and both of us agreed that we'd seen very little in the way of pollinators so far this year. (We're in Oxford.)

Oddly, the birds are back in numbers. We're awoken every day by a blackbird belting its little heart out every day; there are starlings emitting their strange dolphin-like clicks; there are even a pair of goldfinches who narrowly avoided becoming lunch for a local cat. No sparrows or tits, unfortunately. The bird bath is seeing a lot of use, I'm glad to see.

Are you seeing pollinators where you are?

No, I have not seen many pollinators, however, we are just beginning to see some warm temperatures in the last few days. The weather guru forecast possible snow flurries for some of the hill towns around us last night. Right now, at 8 am, it is only about 4 Celsius. I will still have to heat the greenhouse at night for a few more weeks.

We have many insects on the wing and have had for many weeks. Today different bees (sorry rubbish at IDing them) all over the garden and then orange tip, brimstone, holly blue, large and small whites butterflies just to name a few. Then a load of black flies (not the aphids but flies) all over the place for a short time and then moved on. Small flock of house martins overhead, female greater spotted woodpecker on one of the feeders and a male black cap forging in the Clematis armandii.

I had a heron in my very small back garden the other day, or at least he was sat on the flat roof of my utility room. I think he was eying up the pond, but there are no fish in it. I just spotted him out of the kitchen window - it's surprising how big they are close up. Gave me quite a shock.
He flew off and was mobbed all over the car park by a pigeon!

There were good numbers of Bumble Bees around today, mainly Common Carder and Buff Tailed but Ithere have been a couple of Red Tailed which I have never see in the garden but they only fed on the Pittosporum flowers. A Wasp has been visiting the Acer dissectum frequently, I don't know if it is feeding on aphids or is the Acer exuding sweet sap.
Also, first visit of a Hummingbird Hawkmoth but it was so brief I had no time to up the camera settings!

Eastern Bluebird. I can just imagine the baby bird saying, gee, thanks dad, but I am just not hungry right now.
