I'm an incurable insomniac and have always had difficulty sleeping, so I spend my time listening to the owls, and the cows in the fields across the railway down the road ... they've got insomnia too !

When I said that I should have expanded on it.

I average no more than two or three hours a night. I definitely do not have insomnia as I just never have needed any more sleep (except when ill - which is not often :fingers crossed:) and my parents told me I was a 'bloody nuisance' as a kid. I was not allowed to leave my bedroom before 6 a.m. but had toys in there to keep me busy. I never sleep during the day.

I work a 3 shift system so after 7 nights I'm used to sleeping in the day but then I change to working afternoons finishing at 2200 get used to that and all change I'm getting up at 0500 so although I would love to sleep it's difficult

I'm happy to report that it did eventually clear up and I'm now sleeping soundly again!

Shortly after getting into bed last night, all windows open, breeze blowing gently, quiet and still, I heard an extraordinary sound, quite close to the house, several times.
Not a cluck, next doors chickens, nor a bark, one of their dogs out on a late night toilet break. I think it may have been a deer, they do come around my car when it is quiet, not necessarily only at night, they seem quite brazen.
It was disturbing, sounded like a human. I lay listening for ages, trying to work out what it might be. There are no windows in the back of my house and I couldn't be "a**ed" to get up, creep downstairs, go outside and investigate further.
