This is supposed to be a perennial that is a black eyed susan according to the yard sale lady but I don't believe it. I was in a hurry so paid for it anyway. There is a handwritten label taped to the side saying, yellow sedum but it sure doesn't look like that to me either.

It is such a familiar leaf that I'm feeling dense for not recall it's name. Can anyone help this addlepated old gal please?

If the stems are square it could be coleus.

I just took another pic now that it is cloudy. 20250527_164902.jpg
They seem round. I'll snap off a piece....

They look round but at the moment they're no thicker than a toothpick.

I think that rules out coleus then @CanadianLori, the stems won’t change shape (not naturally).

@pete everything here was subjected to several days of rain and the plants are all showing the drenching.

Had a look around on the internet Lori. Could it be Pachysandra Procumbens - Allegheny Spurge?

Wow, that looks like it. Thank you @Sheal . I'm going to leave it in the pot until it gets a lot bigger. I reaaly don't want to have to dig it up if it is placed incorrectly. The same wonan sold me plants that I luckily realized were not going to be allowed a free run and will be kept in big pots. They were supposed to be a daisy or some such but are really split leaf cone flowers!

From the little I could find out Lori. This plant is ground cover and can become rampant, so I suggest you keep it confined. :)

I think many of us have been caught out and still are. You're not alone Lori. :)
