Quick hello from a pretty clueless 'gardener' in North East Scotland. Will be reading posts and no doubt asking for help and advice, so thanks in advance.

Welcome. I am sure you will great advice from readers. Just a suggestion but it would be helpful if you could enter the location where you live to obtain the correct and best advice as the weather is different between Shetland and the Borders or East and West coast of Scotland.

Welcome. I live in Fife so probably not dramatically different to where you live.

Probably not , we are appx 35 miles west of Aberdeen, so it gets cold, normally not too bad, but another 20 or so miles inland and its a very different story.

I'm in a different part of Scotland @Vernon Mackie , and was going to say that @hailbopp would be the best person to offer help because of a potentially very similar location, but she got in much quicker than me! @Sheal will also have very good advice.
You're right re anything further inland from where you are too. This is why it helps so much to give locations because it can vary enormously, and affects what you grow and how well it will thrive. It can still vary, because there's a huge difference between a sheltered town garden, and one which is in an open, exposed site at more altitude.

Hopefully, you'll get plenty of help and info though ,and we'll look forward to seeing your plot and your progress. :blue thumb:
