I think I misunderstood your original post @hydrogardener - I just thought you were describing it and needing an ID! Apologies.
I looked it up. What a lovely little bird.
Hopefully you'll get more - if it's in your garden. Or was it elsewhere you got the pic? So many birds seem to be moving into new areas due to climate or habitat changing.

What a brilliant nesting season it's been for birds this year. I normally only see a couple of chaffinches in my garden but I counted 10 the other day which is great as numbers had plummeted across the UK as they suffered a lot with trichonomosis.
Also it seems to be a good year for blue tits, great tits and greenfinch.
I bought a bigger sunflower heart feeder, I'm not sure if that was a good idea or not because they get through a whole big feeder a day and I feel guilty if it gets low so it's costing me double the amount!!
I think it's mostly greenfinches in this photo and a couple of blue tits.

Your little birds have arranged themselves very artistically @CatDouch . My Goldfinches tend to do the same. Been a good breeding season here too which is encouraging.
Still not as many different butterflies/insects as I'd like but not too bad considering the weather this year.

Out in the garden trying to restrict the pumpkins etc taking over, suddenly heard jackdaws making a real noise. Looked up and.........not joking but over 100 flying over us. Never seen anything like it before.
A little while later a much smaller group flew back but still in the 20/30s.
Not sure what is going on.
Also this morning had 7 long tails at the feeders. Not seen them for months and then 3 wrens (not on the feeders but being very loud with the other birds).
And 2 warblers. Again not on the feeders but close by. Rubbish at ID but one of them was a chiff chaff not sure about the other...maybe a juvenile?
        What a morning!

It has been a good year for Siskins particularly as they have had three broods.
Greenfinch numbers doubled this year, Sparrows and Goldfinches two broods each.

I'm getting through loads of sunflower hearts and fat balls in the last few weeks, I dont think I can keep up money wise, we usually get a lull around august and september.

            I could do with it.

Earwig with evil looking pincers. Haven't seen an earwig for ages.

I had to read that a second time @On the Levels. I presume you mean Long Tailed Tits? :) I lived on the Isle of Man for 24 years and longtails was how the population referred to r-a-t-s, I still don't say it in full. Superstition of course but you wouldn't find anyone there knowingly saying it unless they were new to the island.

Ooh, do tell about the superstition. I’ve never heard that. We have dozens of the little blighters running all over the garden just now. I think they must have moved on from being disturbed in another garden.

I was wondering about that too - re the long tail thing. I assumed long tailed tits.
We also have a lot of earwigs around now - horrible things. I knew I shouldn't have started trying dahlias again! I don't think many of them fly though.
I think I might have leaf cutter bees which would be very unusual here. I noticed some tell tale dmage to the new hornbeam hedge. Must take a pic - if I remember.
Not a great pic, but these are the wasps enjoying the knapweed. I watched them again for ages yesterday. There were at least a dozen on the plant. Fascinating little things

Sorry all! I just used the term as we do here at home and didn't think that it would have other issues.
So yes...long tail tits even though one didn't.
