@strongylodon lovely to see the clouded yellow (as also the others) but this one is to us a rare sighting.

@On the Levels, I have only seen the one this years so far and only a very brief sighting of one last year. They have been seen in Scotland so they do travel long distances.

@strongylodon I may have said this before but while working as volunteers on a RSPB site we had a man turn up who had been taking photos of all the GB butterflies. He came where we were because one photo was not good enough and it was the clouded yellow and that year on the reserve we had an influx. He got his photo after a long time and a very understanding family.

Grayling camouflaged perfectly, until it flew onto the Heather.

This Brimstone moth came into the living room this evening. One of the caterpillar food plants is rowan, and there's a big one in my back garden.

There are more butterflies around now than have been all summer, I've seen a few different ones over the past few days.
Camera is never with me when needed :frown:

They just know @Michael Hewett - I have the same problem re the camera! I often find they're at an awkward height for me to get a pic too.
I mentioned recently on another thread about a red admiral 'taunting me', but I managed to get some pix later on..

I don't think I've ever seen a brimstone moth @Escarpment , but I looked them up, and we certainly have all the food sources round here in huge numbers [I have all of them in my garden!] so I may just be unlucky.

After bemoaning the fact I never see ladybirds these days, I saw one this afternoon. I was cutting back some things on a trellis and there it was ! but by the time I'd got my camera it had gone :frown:
It was only a small one but at least it was there.

That's funny @Michael Hewett . I don't get lots of ladybirds, but I spotted one in the gravel yesterday, where I was working with my new potting bench/table. Just as well I saw it, because I could easily have stood on it. I get them overwintering among clematis stems sometimes. Usually the kind that have a permanent woody framework, so it's a nice little hiding place. Your trellis will fit that bill too.
