Two hedgehogs spotted in my garden this morning! Two! I’m chuffed to bits.

      Good news @AuntyRach .

There was one on our trail cam around 2am this morning. I was also chuffed, there hasn't been one in the garden for many weeks.

Meanwhile the local rescue has over 80 hedgehogs, 60 of which are hoglets. They are working flat out.

Not the best picture as I didn’t want to disturb them. Pay’s to have scruffy bits in the garden.

For those of you interested in hedgehogs and on Facebook, my local rescue is posting a daily report from tomorrow (Monday 25th August), showing the work carried out by the volunteers.
Search for Brockworth Hedgehog Rescue Facebook. The daily posts are visible for anyone, not just Facebook members.

"Over the next week we will be posting daily for a week to give you a week in the life of a hedgehog rescue.
Each day we will post about what we do each day in a week in every aspect of running a rescue, the cleaning out, the admissions, the vet runs, the admin, the fundraising, and much more.
We have a busy week ahead with 4 fundraising events, admissions, releases, cleaning out over 60 hedgehogs daily, so we will do our best to represent the week.
Our volunteers have been set the challenge of taking photos and videos of their volunteering so let’s see what they decide to show you all.
Martha will also be making some appearances, and let’s see who else."

In case you were wondering, Martha is the Rescue's mascot .

I'm so happy, about a year ago we built a hedgehog house and filled it with straw. I checked regularly but no residents, even though we have hedgehogs in our area. I haven't checked for a while but when I opened the lid yesterday it was crammed with leaves, Ivy and twigs so I set my camera up and this morning saw a hedgehog come out at about 8.30 and go back in this morning at about 5.30. So so pleased!

Ahhh what a lovely story @AnniD Amazing that they cared and looked after a hedgehog whilst living and working in a war zone. It definitely shows the best of humanity

Anyone have personal experience of Hedgehogs and Slow worms co exisiting in their garden ? The hogs are fed and the Slows have plenty of suitable hiding places but seem to have declined in both numbers and activity ( they usually breed every year ).
