@Tidemark could the patch be where the incision was made when she was spayed?

Not really. If you think of this image, not of our moggy, the patch is about where the red mark is. IMG_6462.jpeg

In fact, here is the actual thing. She came in looking for a bite to eat so I snapped her while she was busy.

Our Van has two strange bald patches on on his front leg ... had them when he came to us 11 years ago. We have never figured it out as we don't know his previous two years as he just appeared out of the orchard. If I tickle him on at the base of his tail, he purrs and lightly nibbles on the bald spot. :cat-kittyandsmiley:

What I do is put some Witch Hazel on a cotton ad and cleanse the area. i have done this with my furries for 57 years with no issues.

      Aren't they baffling? :cat-kittyandsmiley:

One of my lads has alopecia, and 'over-grooms' himself to distraction at times. He also gets 'pattern baldness' on his lower belly, started when he was about four or five for no fathomable reason. He's twelve now. The vet prescribes him a corticosteroid, low dose, one tablet every other day, but the dosage can be increased or lessened if and when he needs more or less. Works well....and surprisingly cheap. He gets a check-up every 6 months.

Thank you @Victoria , that's worth knowing. He's a bit 'hyper' by nature, but is otherwise a happy little lad.

It has crossed my mind at those times when she is licking herself crazy. :)
