My Maris Piper seed potatoes were planted in March and the first batch was harvested today. About half have brown stains in the flesh -see photos- and I have no idea what this is.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Possibly due to under watering?

My books say: brown spots in potato flesh are typically caused by environmental factors like bruising, a calcium deficiency, high heat, or drought.

I've seen black spots in supermarket spuds.

Thanks folks. Does this make the potatoes inedible?
