Just work stuff (windows required) and occasional photo edit, nothing dramatic

Yep, that would be fine too. I'm really only trying to get an idea of if the mini stuff is any good so when the time comes I can either include or exclude them

I still remember update 2004 (for April 2020) when Microsoft changed the way how display cards were used. The docking station producers took it months to get their drivers ready. The problem was that the NVidia/AMD cards were greyed out and not working with a non-updated docking station. Only then, customers learned to check their Task manager if the GPU was active. Some customers had spent a lot of money for a high spec laptop and learned the first time that their expensive card had never worked and Windows used the basic driver.
Of course, they only became aware of it when they used graphic intensive software.
    Awful time.

    Hi @Loofah

Just got the latest edition of that magazine I mentioned earlier and they have a good review of this Mini PC , the GMKtecNucBox G!0, which they compared to a similar Beelink one from another recent review.

They are both designed for basic home office use, have W11 installed and at the price the seem to fit you needs... ?

Who knows which PCs will be W12 compatible, but W11 should still be supported for some years .

Interesting thread this. Last laptop we were persuaded to by a Chromebook
Regretted it ever since. Quite a lot of software doesn't work on it. Most recent issue was BT changed our phone line to digital so we had a new router. I could not get our HP printer to link up. (Worked fine up till then) . Granddaughter who has just graduated in software engineering, had to come with a windows laptop, she downloaded another bit of software to fix it, not compatible with Chromebook, though now it's re- linked to the WiFi everything is ok.
No idea what to replace the Chromebook with but it will not be another one of those.

If you are looking for that magazine its said to be on the shelves on the 24th, issue no. 719
        Get mine early via subscription.

They also do Best Buys for monitors but only show 27" ones at the moment.
We got their 24" best buy a year or so back, one of these, very happy with it for the price.

I got this today. Been considering a new laptop but between my phone and tablet I don't really need one. My last laptop was good at the time, a ThinkPad from 2013 that was still going fine for basic tasks but it needed to be put out to pasture. I have a spare monitor for it IMG_20251006_183330632 (1).jpg

Nice, though not sure which model it is ?

Have you had chance to run it up , assume it comes with W11 ?

            It's the M7 with W11

Bit confusing with all the models they've got! I've not tried it yet, will get it set up in the next couple of days when I have time
