I haven't done Cannas in many years but decided I would have a go at these so ordered some seeds today.

The plant is organic and originates from Germany. It is suitable for spring and summer cultivation and is a beautiful addition to any garden. The seeds are from our own harvest and usually germinate after 10-14 days. From my own experience, I can say that they flower after three months from germination.

            We have take off ...

            I had 20 seeds.

Yes, they're edible @Adam I . Flowers in salads for a slightly peppery taste and the rhizome too.

Thanks for the idea @Victoria. I shall save seeds from mine, tho not the wild version, and see what I get. I have a rich deep almost crimson pink and a bright lemony yellow so it'll be interesting to see what either produces. The ones with colourful, striped leaves have yet to flower but should be a fiery orange.

I've been messing with pots this morning and found a teeny piece of the coloured leaf canna which still had its label. It's called Downunder. Googled it to remind me of flower colour and height, if it ever does anything, and the first response was "Australia Cannabis security". Nothing at all on canna Downunder.

As for seeds, I've been dead heading the others to keep them flowering so only found one missed seedhead which has already shot its seeds. Maybe time for more to form this year. If not I'll just have to wait.

By the way @Adam I, dahlia flowers are also edible and their flavour changes with the colour of the petals.
