PHOTO COMP DISCUSSION THREAD

Just a persistent patch left in an ice-pocket from the other week. Right where the daffies are!

 

@Friendly, your photo in the September 2025 competition is lovely, but was it really taken this month? It looks much more autumnal. Leaves are still green here.

 

No it wasn't and I must admit I hadn't read the rules . I will delete it now.

I made several mistakes when I first did the competition @Friendly

I must admit - I thought your pic didn't look like a September one - more like November. I love that time of year though

 

@shiney - I hear you groan.

Just a query please. A competition rule says we are not allowed to alter pictures to enhance them. Does this apply to the use of UHD? UHD is inbuilt in the camera so I'm not sure where the rule stands with this.

 

Thanks @shiney, what you've said makes sense.

I've gone back to using automatic over the last few years unless I'm taking something that's moving fast. It's better than my eye sight these days.

 

Cameras have different settings?



I point my ipad in the approximate direction ... and click. Which is probably why I have so far not dared to grace the competition threads with any of my efforts, given how lovely all the submissions are from you clever folk.

 

As much as @Liriodendron deserves to be the winner of the October 2025 competition, I also want to say, @SherwoodArrow , how much I liked your picture which is a marvellous composition of light, angle and object.

 

Not far away @Bluejayway, it's from the Marine Lake at West Kirby.
