Fantastic @Retired.......... I won't even pretend to be able to follow all the process but you are obviously a very talented person so :star: x 10
It's sad to hear how you have been treated by some so called "friends" - hard to understand how people can be so mean.
    Enjoy your mug of tea.

      Hi,

Thanks so much @Philippa; it's highly likely you understand gardening a lot more than I do; we all have our strengths. I like learning new things but I can understand anyone concentrating on a single hobby; many hobbies can become an obssession.

      I forgot to add the restored chassis pictures;

      A lot tidier..jpg
The chassis back now a lot tidier.

It's amazing what can be acheived by just trying; I don't recommend this as a hobby though; it's easy to get electrocuted; if my memory is correct the LOPT (Line output transformer) has 15,000 volts on it both AC and DC coupled to the rectifier valve (Tube).

I'm now getting into more gardening; but the weather has turned against me hence I'm on the keyboard spending time where it's cosy and warm; I'll pop into the studio shortly to make a bit of violin noise through the amplifier; neighbours aren't a problem; the bungalow is detached; I can play silently by using the headphones if immediate neighbours are outside in nice weather.

Thanks; yes; I always enjoy lots of de-caf tea with a piece of cake or biscuit; the surgery nurse suggested I put on some weight; I keep trying. I burn so much energy off though. :)

I think my next hobby thread will be the desk I made?

      Kind regards, Col.

I have just caught up with this thread - your work on the clock case was incredible and I'm only sorry that the recipient was so unappreciative of the time and effort that you had spent on it.

I have a feeling that if my husband had his way we would have something very similar to your "radio workshop". We are in the process of sorting out his old family home, and there were several very old radios in the loft. I saw him studying them closely and being very enthusiastic, but they went to a gentleman who collects and restores them. I must confess to feeling somewhat relieved!

I'm sure Bron is looking on with approval .

The new studio looks a lot tidier than my old dark room - luckily it was in the attic and I did spend a lot of time in there when I was into photography.
Just as well I've only got a couple of bits of Elephant otherwise I'd be tempted to try my hand at that
Look forward to seeing the desk.

            Hi,

You had a lucky escape by your husband not adopting vintage radio as an hobby @AnniD otherwise he'd have ended up like me being surrounded by lots of radios and test gear. Thank you for your kind words about Bron whom I miss so much and will always deeply love.

Most of us with hobbies @Philippa I'm sure will spend too much time on them but are never bored. I think you'd need a big workshop if an elephant was adopted as a hobby.

I'll have a go at the desk thread after all it'll beat sitting in front of the TV; I've enjoyed a violin practice earlier.

            Kind regards, Col.
