Emergency Vet Attendance with Van

Our silly boy Van has frequent shouting matches ... usually there is not another cat in sight (often he is shouting from up in his tree house).

Anyway he came in two days ago with a cut next to his eye. Then yesterday he came in with a gash on his head. I cleaned up both wounds but this morning he was squinting and didn't like me touching near the wounds. Vet is closed on Sundays so Jim called and they said bring him in. So, poor Boy was inspected, injected and has 10 days of antibiotics and eye drops.

Sorry to hear that @Victoria, it's such a worry when something is wrong with our friends. I hope he'll feel better now after having treatment from the vet. I'm sure you will feel better too x

 

Good luck with getting the eye drops in, I had similar with Ben back in the spring and he was not good at letting me do it. After getting told off by the vet for not putting them in, they found out they struggled as well, even with me holding him.

Hope he gets better soon, animals have a way of bouncing back, but might be good to find out what's going on regarding him fighting perhaps.

 

I hope he recovers soon @Victoria. When we've had to do eye drops I wrap the injured cat in a towel for OH to hold while I drip meds or, as Possum is here, I hold them and she drips/cleans/applies ointment to wounds.

He ate a good lunch before he went to sleep for four hours. Now he is up on the back of my chair leaning against me as he does every evening till dinner at 7pm then he will come back after.

He is a very good boy like Magic Sam was, who trained him. He apparently screamed all the way to the Vets, was quiet as a mouse whilst there and didn't make a peep till he saw me. He is very good with medicines and I am sure he will be with the eye drops. His problem will be not being able to go out for the day and will shout and scratch at the doors. Munchkin is the nightmare patient.

Van does not like any other cat in his garden, although he allows The Squeak to visit. As I am not fully mobile I cannot shoo interlopers off.

I have been gone for a few hours as our neighbour came and Van dash back off to our bedroom, probably my closet. It is almost their dinner time so guess he will be back soon.

The Boy had a quiet evening on the back of the chair next to me ...



At bedtime he moved to the back of my chair where he slept all night. He had his medicine and eye drops this morrning and went back to my closet where he is curled up now. Jim was going to let him out with Munchkin but we decided leave him in peace for now.

Lately there has been a newcomer "his twin" with paler markings and I think that is the culprit upsetting him.


Our neighbour said this Interloper has been to hers and one of her cats had a to do with it.

 

It looks like the newcomer will be trying to get in.

 

Jim just came down the lane and he was there then jumped the wall to where Munchkin was on her lounger ... and she did nothing so we will have to have a serious talk with her.

Thank you @Logan. He is shouting at the moment but Jim is going to let him out when he (Jim) gets u and dressed in case he has to dash out to shoo off interlopers.

 

His colouring is a lot like my visitor from last spring and summer @Victoria tho a bit paler. Beautiful. I hope he heals well.

Maybe your visitor is looking for a home too?

We have a new one - stray black moggy with a white heartshaped breastplate. He started sniffing about when the visitor was still being fed outside and now comes every night. I've set up a rigid plastic cloche on wooden boards outside our bedroom door so, come rain or moonshine, he can feed in peace without being anywhere near our catflap so our soft pair are left in peace.

I hope the new moggy is well and makes a home with you. We can/won't take another as Munchkin is not friendly except to people whereas Van runs a mile, except he his territorial of his garden, and his sister.

He went out for five minutes this morning and then lay on the back of my chair and after lunch he went into the orchard and then sunned on the a/c unit in the Courtyard, but then he came in and went straight into my closet! Bless I think he feels better and he is not squinting so much and his face is less swollen.
