    Not likely to have much of an effect, unless it is a thread started many years ago. The 'callback' to old posts/threads tends to slow things down a wee bit, but the delays we are seeing are much deeper than that.

        That's what GoY was like, so I can't help thinking this site is going the same way. All the comments are reassuring so thank you.
        Yes I know but having been through the same thing with GoY I keep having doubts.

          Doubt no more - all of us have spent a good number of hours across the weekend and indeed most of today on and off in discussions with the tech guy who is doing the pre-build ahead of migration. I won't tag him here lest he be a bit shy, but we've had his expertise in the past and I am absolutely confident that he will have us up and flying in a much shorter time than anyone else I could think of.

            Micheal, I know nothing about this, but I feel assured that they are moving to a new system, not sure of the correct term,:smile: I assume the other site you are referring to did not want to upgrade so they closed it down.

              I, and many others, came here from the Gardeners' World forum so we managed to get used to this format. Another version shouldn't matter.

                We're hopeful that the change won't be a dramatic one in that sense - the main benefits are going to be speed, security and ease of use.

                  Thank you @Fat Controller I feel more at ease after your comments. Better security sounds good :smile:
                  They kept saying they didn't have time and they didn't know how long it would take, exactly like what I've heard on here, and in the end I think they just never found the time.
                  I belong to a few forums, I belonged to Grows on You, and I still belong to Garden Friends, and I also belong to an art forum. They all have different formats so I don't think this new one will bother me                  .

                      Today has been very slow. However if I clicked not on the recent replies but on the different areas/threads it comes up immediately. I expect having written that now it wont happen. Interesting though.
