    I got a camera, admittedly a cheapo.
    I bought trail camera.
And have no idea how to use them, and if IDID, I wouldn't know how to transfer them to my laptop.
Would love to be able to take pics and post them.
Would love to set the trail camera up and link it to my laptop.
    Not a chance.
    Life eh?

I am the world’s worst technology user but when I am forced into a corner I usually find that someone far cleverer than I has produced a youtube video on the subject.

Have a look on YouTube for lessons on how to do things. It's amazing what videos there are on there. I use it all the time from refreshing my memory on how to use the buttonholer on my sewing machine, to goodness knows what. You might find the trail camera manufacturer has a YouTube explanation, or someone that's done a video on the camera as a product review.

I am the same as you, but when I got a computer and camera I asked in a shop how to use them. I wrote it down step by step, and told the chap I was talking to, to go slowly so that I could keep up with him. I even wrote down 'step 1 - switch the computer on' !
I didn't care if the computer chap thought I was stupid, I admitted that to him at the beginning and I didn't care. And I wasn't afraid to tell him to repeat things several times.

I did the same when I got a printer/scanner and when I got a mobile phone.
Then, eventually, after a long time, I remembered the steps and now I don't need my prompts any more.
I must say though, I only remember what I wrote down. I can't do anything else.
And I must also say I haven't got the mobile phone any more. It got on my nerves, and I never used it anyway, so I got rid of it.

There must be a computer shop not far from your home, they're everywhere these days. Go and ask for help. You'll probably find, like I did, that they are only too pleased to help you, and they'll probably say something like 'If you need any more help just ask'. They did to me, and I went back several times. In the end we laughed about it, and that also made it easier ...

      Good luck !

Hello @Ditherer what camera do you have got? Do you have a model name?
Just give us the model name and I can have a look for you in the internet.

I got a trail camera last year, and the way how it works is:
It's Chinese model (what else can you expect).
With that camera came a USB cable because the camera needed to be charged first.
That company that made the camera has got an app on Apple Store and Android Store. We downloaded the app onto the iPhone.
We enabled Bluetooth and the app and the camera connected.
When I connect the camera with the app via iPhone, the app has got Gallery and Settings,
In Gallery, I can download the videos to the phone by selecting them and click in Download.
All videos are downloaded to "Photos" on iPhone (Android is them same name I would say).
After watching them, I delete the videos on the camera using the same app.

You eventually want to see the videos on your computer.
You can use the same USB cable and connect the camera to your computer.
In your file browser (Windows Explorer or Finder if you are on macOS), you should see the camera as an external device which then pops up as an own file browser window.
Just click through the folders, there will be the videos somewhere.
Download the videos to your Documents or where ever you want to have them stored.

          Simone,
Just reading your post blows me away.
It's stark reminder of why it's not going to happen.

I gave up hope of ever being able to do that a long time ago.

Should never have started this thread.
It's just that sometimes, I see a thread like this and, it gets me thinking, "I wish. if only".

          I'm sorry.

Please anyone looking at this, ignore it eh?

            No, I didn’t understand a word of it either.

You don’t say where you live, but maybe there’s a wildlife group nearby who would have A Young Person who could come and physically help you.

Ask someone in your family to show you how to do it step by step (slowly) and write it down then have a go your self but take it slowly and then repeat it over and over again untill it's in your mind, some time these thing seem hard but after a while you should be able to do it, as other have said youtube but don't look at the first video look at a few and find 1 that you can watch with ease and watch it a few times

As @Jiffy and I have said ... ASK SOMEONE AND WRITE IT DOWN. It's the only way. You'll remember the steps after you've followed your instructions a few times, like I did.

Of course if you wish to ignore this advice that's up to you, but I don't think you'll ever be able to do anything unless you ASK SOMEONE face to face, and write it all down ...

And never be sorry for asking things.

Riding a bike is hard the first time you try, persistence often pays dividends, even if you have torn all your hair out in the process.

Its the only way you learn.

You are far from alone. I have neighbours of a certain vintage, for who technology is a mystery. I have helped them many times and they find out its not, and they can do it with a little help. The fact you are even on here trumps alot of people.

I would bet you can also do plenty of things that young folk can't. I would rather be practical than rely on technology.

The worse bit about computers is that there is a few ways of doing things to do the same job, you have to find the easy and best way for you to do what you want to do

You can't be to bad as you have joined this forum, if you had help may be you could ask that person if they can help you with what you want to do

We've all had problems with learning how to do things, and rome withn't build in a day so take your time
