A most welcome visitor

My cav who has not the sharpest of hearing started barking this evening - so I went to investigate. Found my most favourite garden visitor - and he/she was looking nice and plump and healthy. Hedgehog - you are most welcome to my garden, long may you visit.

Mrs Pip would love to have a hedgehog visit our garden, enjoy him/her. :thumb:

A photo would be nice.

 

If I spot him again - will try and get a piccie. As they usually follow quite regular patterns of visits - its just a case of when

 

Unfortunately we have to deter hedgehogs from our garden because the dogs attack them
I love to see them pottering around.

 

We had a Hedgehog out the front of our house last night.
My husband saw it when he was taking the dog for a walk.
I would have gone and taken a photo but it was late and pouring with rain.

 

Never seen one in my plot! We are very rural and I hope I've catered for such wildife ,I just hope the creatures are content and well hidden

 

Very much an after dark visitor normally Nick - though I have seen them during the day occassionally - and how often do you stroll your garden after dark? They are clumsy noisy creatures when moving - always worth exploring a rustle in the undergrowth after dark.

 

We'd love to have a hedgehog but our garden (when it happens) is going to have to be seriously rabbit proofed. Any ideas how to let in the spikies without the bunnies?

 

we ocassionally get a hedgehog in our garden.
last time I actually saw him was when there were a few us sat chatting late into the night after a big BBQ and who should turn up but Mr.Tigglywinkle himself.

have not seen him for a while but have certainly see evidence of him visiting.

 

when out for a cig late on and found this little guy on my patio took a pic on my phone went in to get my camera then he had gone thought i cud hear him in my compost heap but left him to it ,hope he stays

 

Wonderful - I hope that I manage to get a picture soon. Last night the dog detected his smell again from the open patio door, and my neice and I went out exploring with camaras - but though we could hear him sniffing, he was too deep in the undergrowth. I'll keep trying. Got pictures from 2005 and 2006 but not this year so far.

 

Sezzle don't worry about hedgehogs not being able to get in your garden they are good climbers.

 

Tonight when taking my dog out last thing - fortunately on an extendable lead cos a) I don't want him disturbing nocturnal visitors and b) as he's a tad deaf, I don't do chasing dogs round the garden after dark - he got very excited about the pots close to my patio door. Took me a while to spot - but there nestled in a seed tray between too pots was a young hedgehog. Smaller than the one I saw a couple of weeks back so may this years brood?

As I knew he would stay frozen for a bit, gave me time to finish what I was doing and then go in for my camara - leaving the dog inside.
