Hi all sorry to ask a silly question but how long do I have to harden off my greenhouse plants etc. before they can stay outside all day and night? I have been leaving them out throughout the day these pass three days or so.

As most of you know I do have a coldframe but I can't put them in there as there are far too many. Thanx in advance ;) Hel.xxx.

You should be ok now Hel most of my stuff has been out a couple of weeks now, we did have that cold spell but nothing was adversely affected so go for it.

Hi Helen,I don't have room for a cold frame so i use my greenhouse as one large frame with all the plants inside.I leave the door and windows open during the day and just close them at night. After a week or so I leave the windows open slightly at night and then I eventually leave them open wider after another week.By now I am starting to remove all the plants that are in there out and get everything planted out into the borders:)

I have some fleece handy so if it does turn colder I can quickly put that over them but touch wood they are usually ok by now.As Walnut says up your way shouldbe ok if he has had his out for a couple of weeks.:thumb:

Hi Helen, i have been hrdng off my plants for two weeks the weather here has been up and down so i made sure i gave them plenty of time, ive been taking them out of greenhouse on a morn ( 20 mins phew ! ) and puttin them away at night, from tues of this week i have left them out all the time but covering with fleece on a night, now today i am starting to plant out and put pots in position at last, i might have been too careful some would say but i put a lot of effort in and dont want them to ruin, i think weathers ok now to leave them out , i hope you get on ok i am sure all your hard work will pay off good luck k.x
