Worth a go for the money. Basjoos can be planted straight out in a pot or in the ground in a nice calm sunny spot. Moist but not stagnant soil and feed regularly. If its a different type and/or not labelled just treat it as bedding and take a chance I would.

Thanks so much for the offer shiney - I'm selling up soon though so I think i'll get a couple more plants (florist near here was selling them cheapish) for "instant gardening" and hope to have room wherever I end up for some more (along with an orchard, a bigger veg patch, a larger pond, far more flower borders, maybe some chickens.... in my dreams anyway!)
In the meantime I'll have another go with the slug pubs - I tried home made ones last year but maybe they were too deep. All they seemed to catch was beatles!
I wonder if different slugs like different things to eat? I had terrible trouble with courgettes in pots when I lived in yorkshire but down here they barely seem to go for the veg plants at all, other than the salads (touch wood). 100 runner bean plants though... goodness...

Very well done Mr and Mrs Shiney!

After all your hard work, I hope you have a lovely, relaxing and safe trip to the Lakes and may the sun shine down on you both while you are there!

If everyone made the effort you two just have, the world would be a much nicer place to live in.

Thanks for your lovely comments. Money is still trickling in as people pop round for plants :thumb:.

We got back on Sunday from our trip to the Lake District and the garden looked as though it had been abandoned for about a month . I started mowing last night (too hot during the day) and am going to do a little bit more now.

The aquilegia are almost finished but we don't cut them down yet. We wait for a lot of them to seed and then save the seed for other people. Does anyone want some if we have any left?

Other plants are starting to flower and the wild bee orchids are just opening. I'm pleased to see that some of the runner beans are in flower and have nearly reached the top of the canes.

Scooby, I had cut the grass before taking the photos. In some of the lawns there is less grass then weeds etc. We have a lot of moss, daisies, clover and broad leafed weeds but if we keep it cut low it looks like good grass - until you look close :D

    Hi BM,

Yep, :thumb: if you look at his 'Cumbrian Garden Project' under 'Projects' you will see that they are already planted - interesting thread. He is doing a great job with making something out of his new garden.

I'll take a load more plants up there when I go in September.

Has the Leycesteria Formosa taken OK? :)
