    hi all
please can someone help? i recently had a new hd fitted so had to start fom scratch & since then when i go on the net, the top of page/window whatever, comes up as the Packard Bell one - all mauve etc.
i prefer the one i had before, can't remember exactly but think it was a bt one cos it showed yahoo.
i'm not with bt anymore so don't know if i can get this back, although i am still using their e-mail service.
can i change from the packard bell one? i don't like it!
as you can tell, i'm not too good with all this
    many thanks

I belive you need to reset your internet home page. If you can find the website you want (I can't help there, but let's use the yahoo site as an example), go to that site and copy the address which appears in the address line of your internet explorer(highlight it and press ctl c). In this case it will be:-

    http://www.yahoo.com/

Then, click on 'Tools' at the top of your browser and select 'internet options'. This will give you a pop up which will have an address in it for 'homepage'. Paste (ctl v) the required address into it and press Apply, then OK.

Then close your internet browser down and open it up again. The default page should have changed.

    thanks nw,
however, this doesn't change the top of the window/page. the bit i'm talking about is the very top 'bars' shown, which have things like the file, edit, toots etc next bar shows back button, search etc, then theres the address bar and lastly the packard bell bar. all of these are the mauve pb ones.
if i do what you suggested the yahoo home page comes up ok but these bars don't change.
    anymore ideas, please?
    cheers.
    sandra

    I've had another idea.
Go into your internet options again and click 'colour' at the bottom of the pop up window, under 'appearance'. There should be a checkbox for 'windows colours' that may return your toolbar to the colours you're used to.(Actually, it may not, I just tried it on mine and it didn't work [IMG] )

For the yahoo, I would imagine you used to have the yahoo toolbar installed, but you have now lost it.
Go to http://toolbar.yahoo.com/ and have a look at the toolbar there. If it's what you had and you want it back, then download it.

I hope I got the right end of the stick this time

Nope, that one was rubbish. THIS SHOULD WORK!!

HP recognise that people don't like the purple and have a program that will remove it. Go here

    http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=6923040000

    alternatively,

Right click on any spot on desktop, select properties, appearance, then click on the advanced tab, then click on the bar that is dark and change it to any color you wish or system default. (Windows) Please note as you click on the picture of Windows Desktop the options and
selections change that you can make your own.

I can't take any credit for the answer above, I cut and pasted it from here
    http://www.motherboardpoint.com/t54919-internet-explorer-outlook-express.html

(the yahoo bit might have been right though  )

    Good luck

Hi Sandra, I've just read this thread, I don't use Pak. Bell so it's difficult to visualize the problem but try RIGHT clicking on the purple bit. If you get a dialogue box with the option of 'Menu Bar', then click on that and see if it gets rid of the purple, if you had the Yahoo tool bar before the new hard disk then you will have to download it again from Yahoo.com. I'm assuming you're using Internet Explorer 7.
