Just showed it to James - the combination of 'that song' and the footage of that magnificent animal human bond was just as powerful on him too - we have just been sitting here with tears streaming..

    What are we like? :o

Thank you Shiney - I enjoyed that very much - wish I was in there with that fella and the lions.

Just for you, a photo I took of the beautiful lioness at Paignton Zoo. Hope you like it. xx

Some of the wildlife we encountered on our holiday in the Canadian Rockies back in 2012. :)

Elk (or wapiti to be correct), just munching away by the side of the road and not the least bit bothered by our presence.

        DSC06831.JPG

Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel. Incredibly tame, they appear as if by magic whenever you go for a wander in the mountains. This one adopted an irresistibly cute pose as we wandered around on Sulphur Mountain near Banff.

        IMG_8686.jpg

Hoary Marmot. About the size of a cat or medium sized dog, they emit a shrill, piercing call to warn other members of their colony of approaching walkers. For this reason they are known locally as 'whistlers'.

        IMG_8722.jpg

Black Bear. Pictured foraging by the side of the road, their presence often causes a minor traffic jam as people stop to photograph them from the safety of their cars.

        IMG_8836.jpg

North American Barn Swallow. Amazingly tame, this one just sat on the railings of a jetty overlooking Howe Sound, allowing us to approach to within a few feet and get a really close look.

        IMG_9220.jpg

Sea otter. We came across a whole family of these playing among the driftwood, as we walked along the beach in Victoria, on Vancouver island.
