Ooh you lucky thing - thats exactly what I would love to do! Went out with someone in a small governess cart a couple of years ago and I was hooked! Expensive business so, maybe in another life ;) And ofcourse a pony will qualify as a pet - as long as we see lots of pics [IMG]

he is called Dainty David, Davey to his friends, living inside is all new to him, and he has loads of admirers, is never short of hay and oats, and has a nice soft dry bed to sleep on.
although he has not been ridden yet, he is learning to jump!...... i ran over the poles in front of him a few times then let him go on his own, boy can he shift, and dance and prance, and he knows he is the best boy in the yard!

I have sadly had to sell my horse, but have rented my field out to a lady with a pony. She said it was arriving at 11am, so I went down to check all was OK.

In front of the field gate was a small van and I jokingly asked if the pony had been delivered in it - it was quite a shock when I found out that it had!!!

Just a word of warning - my friends pony has go laminitus - I can't believe it, this time of year when there is supposedly no protein in the grass, anyway take care and don't kill with kindness.

the reason ponies get laminitis at this time of year is that the grass contains a lot of fructose which is produced when frost gets in to the grass
the fructose is a sugar which is too rich for pony feet [lamellae get inflamed] and its a double whammy cos it tastes sweet and makes them eat too much., it is possible to get a sort of muzzle to stop em eating so fast, but at this time of year you really need to provide hay and restrict grazing
